On behalf of the Australasian Osseointegration Society, it is my pleasure to announce the AOS 8th Biennial Conference will take place at the Adelaide Convention Centre in South Australia 9–12 November 2011.
This distinctive event is an international meeting of world class standard with highly respected speakers who mix clinical knowledge and ground-breaking new techniques with solid scientific background. The conference theme is ‘Selection: Science or Marketing’, with the aim of fostering safe clinical practice by promoting understanding of the benefits and limitations of various clinical techniques.
Marketing of implants relies on a combination of many concepts with a common goal: to stimulate our senses and provoke a response. Traditionally, science follows a rigid linear system – seeking understanding of ever smaller units in order to explain how the complex system functions. This philosophically rigid approach has provided significant discoveries and advances - but it is at the same time a limiting and inflexible approach. Is there a potential advantage to an alternate paradigm?
We have invited world-renowned speakers who will contribute to an outstanding three days, providing an authoritative and reliable scientific and clinical basis for the treatment of patients, as well as addressing exciting new innovations and research. The event will provide something for everyone, with multiple parallel sessions, oral presentations, master class, training workshops, poster competitions, and a large exhibition with all the global leading companies offering the latest products and technological innovations.
